Karol G — Transforming a defining symbol into a spectacle of scale and movement.

  • Project Type: Stage
  • CLIENT: Karol G

Commission

When Karol G became the first Latina artist to headline the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, the brief was to elevate an already ambitious stage design while celebrating her Colombian roots.

Working closely with Karol G, creative director Parris Goebel, and production company Silent House, we were trusted to deliver a large-scale, character-led performance prop that was both playful in spirit and rich with cultural meaning.

Response

Closing out Sunday night at Coachella, Karol G delivered a historic, powerful, and high-energy performance. We executed a larger-than-life Guacamaya, which acted as an elevated performance platform, at the end of the stage truss.

As a central motif within Karol G’s visual identity and culture, the Guacamaya carried real significance. It was vital that our execution honoured this, capturing both its character and cultural meaning. Drawing on the vivid colours of the Colombian flag, the piece became an instantly recognisable centrepiece within the set.

Initially poised with its wings folded, the structure transformed mid-performance, unfurling and lifting above the audience to create a moment of scale, movement, and connection between artist and fans.

Following its impact at Coachella, the Guacamaya was recommissioned for Karol G’s VIAJANDO POR EL MUNDO TROPITOUR. Now travelling from country to country as part of the tour’s ambitious stage design, the piece continues to provide a striking performance platform and bring this defining motif to audiences around the world.
